Equip: Improve Beach Safety

Most California state beaches neither have a year round lifeguard station nor are they equipped with any beach safety equipment. In the event of an unfortunate accident, this often results in family members or bystanders going into the waters unguarded, to rescue their loved ones or a fellow beachgoer. The hazardous water conditions and the absence of a floatation device often results in a bigger tragedy, because many rescuers themselves do not make it back alive.

Our goal is to work with authorities to equip beaches with adequate signage and life-saving floatation devices. We want to learn from various beach awareness programs around the world that are saving lives and find a way to implement those in the Pacific Coast Beaches.
